Winter is approaching, and it’s time to start putting together your warmer wardrobe.

For those of us with some extra junk in the trunk, shopping can be a tough gig as many stores still don’t cater for plus size customers - but don't fear! There are more and more plus size lines and stores popping up every month– and we’ve got the lowdown on the best brands and where to find them.

Everyday clothes and workwear

ASOS Curve is the perfect go-to for those who love shopping without leaving the comfort of their couch. The line boasts a massive range of plus size clothes, stocking heaps of different brands and sizes up to UK/AU 30. Whether you’re looking for casual pieces, workwear, winter dresses, a cosy coat or a new pair of trackies - they’ve got you covered.

Boohoo is a newcomer to the plus size market, but is already becoming a fast favourite with amazingly affordable clothes which go up to a size 26. The brand is dedicated to treating plus size customers like everyone else, running with the trends. And, there are no cover-ups or muumuu dresses in sight.

If you’re scouring around for denim, head straight for City Chic; their new denim range caters to different body types and sizes, with clothing coming in oodles of different cuts.

The Iconic is great for work and activewear, and stocks up to a size 26. The website's prices are a little higher than similar brands, but the quality of  clothing is worth the extra dosh. Autograph is another all–rounder and has a particularly cute range of knits and coats this season– also going up to size 26!

Going out gear

We’ve covered your day-to-day outfits, so now it’s time to check out some glam options for your wardrobe. City Chic is the best brick-and-mortar store to head to for formal, party and day-to-night dresses, skirts, jumpsuits and denim. Its prices vary depending on material and cut, but can often be on the pricier side of things due to it's high quality. For those on a budget, ASOS Curve or Boohoo are once great options - perfect for dresses, tops, slinky numbers and the occasional jumpsuit.

Autograph is a leader for occasion dresses and accessories, as well as tops and pants that can be worn in the office, or in a bar. For those looking for something a touch more rogue, U.S-online brand Modcloth has a plus size range to get excited about; think vintage-inspired dresses, sweet florals and elegant formal pieces - up to a size 28!

Underwear and lingerie

Okay, so maybe underwear isn’t exactly a winter-specific fashion item. But you still have to wear it. We want to make sure you’re covered for the days when you just want to wear comfy granny undies, and the nights when you want to under-dress to impress. For the basics, Bras N Things has a small but fabulous range of larger bras, undies and shapewear. They offer bras up to a G cup, but its sleepwear sizes stop at a size 20.

For basics and pieces which exude a little more femininity, City Chic has a great range of lingerie sets, shapewear, and tights. The store houses bras up to a G cup and size 24. You can pick up matching sets of lingerie, or separates. Autograph also has a few racier bits and pieces and houses bras up to a G cup. Hot tip: there are often more choices and colours online as opposed to instore.

Shoes

Don’t worry, we would never forget about shoes! ‘Tis the season for calf and knee-high boots, and it can be tough out there for us plus size girls who can’t wrestle our legs into straight-sized shoes. Thankfully, many brands starting to accomodate to this, with wide-leg boots. City Chic has its own line of gorgeous leather boots and stock flat and heeled shoes, up to a size 10.

Autograph recently expanded its range of shoes, and offer up everything from flats and boots to adorable fluffy slippers. Wittner has started to stock multi-width knee and thigh high boots up to a size 42 (around a size 11) - if you’re shopping online, just type ‘wide calf’ into the search box to find those beauties. And once again, ASOS delivers: flats, heels, wedges, loafers, and boots in wide fit and large sizes up to a UK 9, which is an Australian size 11.

We hope this helps on your quest for plus size fashion this winter! It may feel lonely sometimes, but we ensure that there are heaps of great options out there. This is merely our wrap of to stay warm and look fabulous this frosty season!
